Worlds Chat was the first version of the program released to the public by [[worldscom:worlds_inc|Worlds Incorporated]]. It was considered the beta stage for what would eventually become [[worldscom:worlds_chat_gold|Worlds Chat Gold]]. It featured several avatars one could choose on log in. Users would spawn into a space station with a multitude of pods designed for various categories of topics. These pods often held multiple empty rooms on relevant subjects for users to converse in. Worlds Chat was shut down after [[worldscom:end_of_the_worlds|The End of the Worlds]] on September 3rd, 1996((https://web.archive.org/web/19990224221757/http://www.mixed-nuts.com/nutnews/newspaper.htm)) to make way for Worlds Chat Gold.
