This page details how to get started on contributing to the Worlio Wiki, as well as exercising the best wiki practices.

Formatting

Worlio Wiki uses DokuWiki as its wiki software. As such, it is encouraged to familiarize yourself with its Formatting Syntax. We also use a few plugins that add extra functionality:

Infobox

On pages about software, products, or services, it is highly requested they adorn an “Infobox” on the top-right of the page. The Infobox should contain small but relevant information about the topic of the page. This can be birth, death, release, platform support, developer, publisher, aliases, etc. It is recommended to look at existing Infoboxes on various pages to get an idea of what is relevant.

Infoboxes should always align right, and be placed right below the page title and above any text.

Tagging

It's recommended to tag pages using the Tag Plugin. The tag syntax should be placed above the page title heading for accessibility. Tags should never contain namespaces, that is done automatically.

Good Practices

Anyone can contribute, but those who follow this section usually do it well.

Reference

Not always can claims be sources, but it is encouraged. Unverified claims may be removed, and easily disputable claims can be assumed as vandalism and lead to a suspension.

Don't Novelize

Keep details in a page relevant to the topic and in their respective sections. More details is better, but writing too much about a detail or over-explaining can get annoying to the reader. Keep things short, link to other relevant pages when necessary, and follow the order of the page.

Collaborate

This Wiki is a collaborative community effort. As such, you should get comfortable using Talk pages to discuss problems or edits with the rest of the community. You can navigate or create a Talk page through the button on the sidebar.
